Training Women Plumbers

The new Plumbing Diploma all sounds fine and dandy. But is it?

The only flaw is that in an industry where the majority of skilled workers work alone, they no longer have the resources to train apprentices. Or pay them.

As a company of women plumbers, the problems became apparent to us many years ago, but they appear to be affecting the entire industry now.

Women plumbers have been contacting us for years. They’d done all their college learning and been excellent, but have been totally unable to gain a ‘placement’ to gain their workplace learning.

Now this is happening to boys too. The system is full of leaks!

Women who choose to be plumbers are incredibly passionate about plumbing.

It makes them great plumbers (if they manage to get through the flaming hoops of fire put in their way).  This is why their tutors (mostly) love them, and why, their customers hold on to them tight and never let them go… when they find them.

As a company outside the established system we were already thinking outside the box, so it hasn’t been too big a step for us to create something novel that works.

This leak of almost qualified, skilled and enthusiastic plumbers is a major one and has to be addressed before we don’t have enough plumbers to pass on the knowledge.

At Stopcocks, we support our plumbers to fly through the fires put in front of them and fulfill their dreams of becoming a great plumber. We also provide our own unique specialist training to ensure they’re fit to work on and in people’s homes and help customers fulfil their dreams of a beautiful home that works.

Stopcocks is doing is providing women plumbers the opportunity to gain their workplace experience. Soon they will be moving in to providing women only plumbing training.
